I wanted to repurpose my knife tree as i felt that it still had mileage in it; so I thought I would take inspiration from Salvador Dali and his dripping clock image and Claes Oldenburg with his oversize food sculptures. This in turn led me to make a giant fried egg out of scavenged black out material and corrugated cardboard, both painted with acrylic paint, to represent the egg white and egg yolk.
The bacon was a happy accident as originally I wanted to use p.v.c. remnants to make the egg white but when I glued the pieces together they would not stick properly, so I had to think of something else to do with the p.v.c as I did not want to waste it; hence two pieces of p.v.c glued together equates to a piece of streaky bacon, when primed and painted with acrylic and picked out with a black fine line marker.
