Artists Statement
I have always enjoyed scavenging for treasure amongst the rubbish left out for the bin men and then finding interesting ways of using it; a length of bubble wrap may become a piece of streaky bacon once primed and painted.
Often my work holds a hidden meaning behind it, whether it is social, political, pre-menopausal or about mental health and abuse. I almost always try to add a touch of humour to the piece in order to lift it, sometimes giving it a nod towards pop art.
I use a wide range of materials for my oversized 2D and 3D sculptures such as bubble wrap, cardboard, corrugated card, material remnants, acrylic paint and black fine line markers, anything really as long as it takes my fancy.
As well as painting and drawing I also produce polytile prints and photographs in relation to my chosen theme. Recycling is the key to my practice.
